NewQuay’s waterfront apartments often run heavy loads (AC, induction cooktops, EV chargers) and can be exposed to salt-laden air—both can accelerate wear at switchboards, outlets and connections. A polarity-focused assessment helps catch dangerous wiring faults before they become shocks or fires.

Our comprehensive service includes everything you need to make an informed decision about your property.
We test a sample of accessible power points to confirm active/neutral orientation and earth presence. Reversed polarity can leave parts of appliances energised even when “off”, increasing shock risk and making faults harder to trace.
We inspect the switchboard for scorch marks, brittle insulation, loose-looking terminations, water staining and overcrowding. These indicators often correlate with hot joints, intermittent faults and increased fire risk—especially where loads are high.
We confirm whether RCD protection is present where expected and perform functional checks using the test mechanism. RCDs that don’t trip reliably, or circuits without appropriate RCD coverage, leave occupants exposed to potentially fatal shock.
We assess visible earthing components and look for warning signs that suggest poor bonding or compromised earthing. In apartments, a weak earth can present as tingles on metal fixtures and inconsistent device behaviour.
We check accessible cabling and connections for damaged sheathing, unsecured cables, non-compliant joins, or evidence of unapproved alterations. Poor workmanship can create arcing and overheating that won’t be obvious until failure occurs.
We confirm visible smoke alarms are present and note obvious placement issues that can affect performance (for example, alarms missing near sleeping areas). While not a substitute for full compliance certification, it flags gaps that matter for occupant safety.

Yes. NewQuay homes are commonly apartments with high appliance density (AC, cooktops, dryers) and shared infrastructure managed by strata. Faults like reversed polarity, weak earthing or ageing RCDs can be harder to notice until a safety switch trips or you feel a tingle on metal fixtures. This assessment focuses on polarity and protection devices that reduce shock and fire risk.
Polarity is the correct connection of active and neutral conductors. If polarity is reversed at an outlet or fitting, parts of an appliance can remain live even when it seems switched off. That increases the likelihood of electric shock during cleaning, maintenance or appliance faults. Polarity testing helps identify these hidden wiring issues so an electrician can correct the termination safely.
Yes. We visually assess the switchboard condition and check for indicators of overheating, moisture impact and poor layout. We also confirm safety switch (RCD) protection where accessible and perform functional trip checks using the device’s test mechanism. If protection appears missing or unreliable, we document it clearly so you can arrange prompt rectification by a qualified electrician.
They can. Waterfront air can carry salt and moisture, which may accelerate corrosion at exposed terminals, outlets and switchboard components, particularly in areas with poor sealing or ventilation. Corrosion can contribute to resistance heating and intermittent faults. During the assessment, we look for staining, oxidation and heat markers that suggest connections are degrading and need electrical attention.
No. This assessment is a safety-focused inspection that identifies hazards and likely defects, especially around polarity, RCD protection, switchboard condition and visible wiring concerns. Compliance certificates and electrical repair work must be completed by a licensed electrician under the relevant regulations. Our report helps you understand what needs fixing and supports informed decisions before moving in or negotiating.
