Book once the formwork is up, steel reinforcement is placed and the vapour membrane is laid, but before concrete is poured. In NewQuay, pours can be tightly scheduled, so it’s best to organise the inspection as soon as the builder confirms the pre-pour date. That timing allows any rectifications to be completed without delaying the pour.

A pre-slab inspection independently reviews critical elements such as membrane laps and penetrations, reinforcement position and support, set-downs, and formwork levels. Builders do check their work, but issues can still slip through under time pressure. Our role is to provide a documented, client-focused assessment so you can request fixes before the slab is irreversible.

Yes. We look closely at tears, punctures, lap widths, taping and how the membrane is detailed around penetrations and slab edges. Penetrations are a common weak point because multiple trades work in the same area. If sealing is incomplete, moisture can migrate upward later and affect floor coverings and indoor humidity.

Waterfront-adjacent environments can increase the consequences of poor moisture detailing. In NewQuay, careful attention to vapour barrier continuity, slab edge detailing and drainage intent is important to reduce damp-related problems later. We focus on the items that are easiest to correct before the pour, including membrane integrity and penetrations that can become moisture pathways.

You’ll receive a detailed report with photos and clear notes on what was observed, what needs rectification and why it matters. The report is written so you can forward it to your builder or site supervisor and track responses. Where appropriate, we include practical recommendations to help you confirm items are corrected before the concrete pour proceeds.
