Moonee Ponds has plenty of older Edwardian and mid-century homes plus renovated units where original wiring, updated kitchens, and added circuits can leave polarity faults and switchboard gaps unnoticed.

Our comprehensive service includes everything you need to make an informed decision about your property.
We test polarity at representative accessible power points to identify reversed active/neutral wiring and other miswiring indicators. Polarity faults can make appliances and metal fittings more hazardous, particularly when combined with older earthing arrangements.
We inspect the switchboard for signs of outdated protection (such as rewireable fuses), heat stress, poor labelling, and general safety risks. We also check whether circuits appear appropriately protected and highlight any obvious gaps that may require an electrician’s upgrade advice.
We confirm whether safety switches are installed and identify which circuits appear to be protected. In many Moonee Ponds properties, partial upgrades leave some lighting or power circuits without RCD protection, increasing shock risk in everyday use.
Where safely accessible, we assess visible cabling and wiring points for damage, DIY modifications, unsecured cabling, or ageing insulation. We focus on risk indicators you’d want identified before moving in or adding further electrical load.
We check for the presence and apparent suitability of smoke alarms as part of an electrical safety overview and note where alarm placement or type may need an electrician’s attention. This is particularly relevant in multi-level homes and older layouts common around Moonee Ponds.
We call out issues that commonly arise in renovated period homes and strata units—such as mixed old/new circuits, added kitchen loads, and limited access to cabling. You’ll receive clear recommendations on what to ask your electrician or body corporate to confirm.

They can be. Many Moonee Ponds homes have had multiple renovations over decades, which can mean mixed wiring eras and added circuits. Polarity problems may occur after DIY work or partial rewiring. We assess accessible outlets for polarity, review the switchboard setup, and check for safety switch coverage so you can see whether the electrical system has kept pace with modern safety expectations.
Yes. We check whether safety switches are present and look at the apparent coverage across circuits. In practice, some properties only protect certain power circuits while lighting or other areas remain unprotected. We note what we can observe at the switchboard and explain what that means for day-to-day safety, then recommend what an electrician should confirm or upgrade.
We perform targeted testing and inspections to identify safety risks efficiently, focusing on accessible outlets and key areas where issues commonly appear. Not every fitting can be tested during an assessment, particularly where access is restricted or items are hard-wired. If we find indicators of broader problems, we’ll clearly recommend further investigation or comprehensive testing by a qualified electrician.
In Moonee Ponds units, access to cabling can be limited and electrical work may be split between what’s inside the unit and what’s managed by the owners corporation. We focus on what’s visible and accessible within the residence, including polarity testing, the unit’s switchboard, and safety switch coverage. If an issue may involve common property, we’ll flag it so you can raise it with body corporate or an electrician.
We provide a safety-focused assessment and practical findings, but formal compliance certification is typically issued by a licensed electrician after any required works are completed. Our report helps you understand current safety risks, what needs urgent attention, and what to request next. If you’re preparing a Moonee Ponds property for leasing, we’ll also highlight smoke alarm and safety switch considerations to discuss with your electrician.
