Book it for the window after the base is prepared and the reinforcement and membrane are installed, but before any concrete is poured. In Clayton, builders often schedule pours quickly once inspections and trades are lined up, so aim to book as soon as you receive a likely pour date. We’ll attend on site and provide a report you can act on immediately.
A Stage 1 inspection focuses on what will be locked under the slab: site preparation, formwork, moisture/vapour barrier installation, steel reinforcement placement and visible service penetrations. We also note workmanship concerns that can affect slab performance, such as membrane damage, missing steel supports or questionable edge detailing. Anything we can’t verify visually is flagged for confirmation with your builder.
We can review any documents you provide and comment on whether site conditions observed appear consistent with the intended build stage, but a visual inspection is not a substitute for geotechnical testing or formal compaction testing. If the base looks uneven, wet, disturbed or inconsistent, we’ll recommend you request the relevant testing evidence or clarification from the builder before proceeding with the pour.
