Our comprehensive service includes everything you need to make an informed decision about your property.
We visually confirm whether smoke detectors are installed in areas that matter most—near bedrooms, in hallways leading to bedrooms, and on each accessible level—so you can quickly see if the home is missing basic coverage.
We assess whether detector locations make sense for how the Oakleigh East home is used today (for example, after a renovation, extension, or new bedroom). If the detector is positioned away from likely smoke paths or sleeping areas, we note it.
Where visible, we record the detector style (e.g., hardwired unit or battery unit) and its room/area location. This helps you or your electrician plan upgrades and replacements without guessing what’s installed.
We identify alarms installed where they’re hard to reach for testing or where nearby features may affect performance, such as bulkheads, high vaulted ceilings, vents, or placement too close to corners.
Oakleigh East homes sometimes have converted garages, subdivided living rooms, or extra rooms for share-house use. We look for spaces that function as bedrooms or sleeping zones but may not have appropriate nearby alarm coverage.
Your report lists what we observed and what appears missing or poorly positioned, so you can brief an electrician or installer clearly. It keeps the focus on safety-critical actions rather than general commentary.

Yes. Many older Oakleigh East homes have had kitchens opened up, new bedrooms added, or hallways altered over the years. Smoke alarm locations don’t always get updated to match the new layout, which can leave sleeping areas without effective nearby coverage. Our assessment visually checks what’s installed and where, then documents any gaps so you can arrange upgrades with an electrician.
This service is a visual inspection to confirm the presence and placement of smoke detectors. We do not perform an electrical compliance test or certify wiring, and we don’t dismantle alarms. If we identify missing alarms or placement concerns, we recommend engaging a licensed electrician or smoke alarm provider to test, replace, or upgrade units as needed.
We inspect accessible internal areas and circulation routes, focusing on where smoke alarms are most critical—near bedrooms, in hallways leading to bedrooms, and across multiple levels if applicable. We note detector locations by area, and we look for missing coverage in spaces that function as bedrooms or sleeping zones, including rooms created by renovations or conversions.
Townhouses and units in Oakleigh East often have bedrooms upstairs and living areas downstairs, with stairwells acting as the main path between levels. If alarms are only installed downstairs, upstairs sleeping areas may not have adequate nearby alerting. During the assessment, we map where alarms are located across levels and flag placement that may not suit the vertical layout or bedroom separation.
Yes. Rentals and share-houses can have changed room uses over time, such as a study being used as a bedroom. We visually assess detector presence and placement based on how the property is currently configured and occupied. Your report helps landlords and property managers identify missing alarms and placement issues to address promptly with appropriate trades.
